Becca recently added a new shimmering skin perfector highlight to their range called Lilac Geode. The shade is described as a cool pink with a golden pearl finish. This item is limited edition and exclusive to Ulta. It retails for $38 USD and contains 0.28 ounces of product.
Everything about this highlight is beautiful, from the packaging to the product itself. It comes in a reflective purple compact, unlike the usual brown Becca packaging. There is a cool geometric design etched into the powder. It makes me not want to swatch it! The highlighter itself looks pink in the pan, but it shifts to gold when you tilt it towards the light. It is so pretty. There is no chunky glitter in this highlight, just a beautiful pearly sheen. The powder is very soft to the touch.
I applied the highlighter at about 12:30 pm with my Real Techniques setting brush. When I looked in the mirror, I didn’t really see much of the pink color. I mostly noticed the light golden shift. I’m guessing that’s because you can only really see your own highlight when your face is tilted toward the light (which is when this highlight looks golden). It was pretty nonetheless. The highlight was still noticeable on my skin prior to removing my makeup at 7:30 pm.
The first and only other Becca item I have tried was the shimmering skin perfector in the shade Rose Quartz (it was limited edition). I was really underwhelmed by that product. The shade was not very intense or noticeable on my skin, so I ended up returning it. Since Rose Quartz was the only other Becca item I had used, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I bought Lilac Geode.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase! The product was smooth, pigmented, and long lasting. The next time I use it, I might try spraying my brush with water or setting spray to see if that makes the pink color more noticeable on my skin. See the photos below for swatches!
